Flooding

Hi all, can I get some advice for this problem. This was happening before I changed following parts. diaphragms, needle valves, float chamber gaskets and adjusting float level to 17mm. It is coming out overflow tubes and will not start after I have stopped for a while. Am I correct in assuming that when car is turned on from cold, you hear the pump ticking and then stop, meaning that the float chamber is now full and the fuel floats have lifted and cut off the fuel supply. What else can cause flooding/overflow? Car drives well till I stop.

Hi Mark.
I had this problem and changing the needle valves sorted it out. Perhaps the valves you put in are faulty. Did you check the floats for any holes ?. My pump runs then stops when the carbs are full to the right level. I have now fitted a pressure regulator and set it to around 2.5 psi this seems to help the care run smoother.

Hi rob, I think I have solved the problem. originally the carb was leaking. I decided to go belt and braces as the carbs were off. New breather pipes, fuel lines, filters and needle valves and gaskets. Long story short, after the engine was turned off, instant flooding. The needle valves I fitted had 2 holes in them. After trying everything I refitted the old needle valves and problem solved!! Not sure if the needle valves were the wrong ones but as I had the carbs off about 20 times I dont care!
