    Stag Idle

    Morning,
nearly got my stag back on the road after a few years and previous owners bodges.
It is a mrk1 but somebody has put a mrk2 wiring harness and engine in it.
The main prob i have now is we cannot adjust the idle speed on it(1200 rpm) despite all the carb settings being fully off so to speak. Its had a full service, any ideas pls as it's driving us nuts!

All cables off? wrong needles ? sticking needle holders ,very stiff diaphragms? seems like too much air is getting in? if you partially block the intake (s) does it fall?

Sometimes the breather (carb to cam cover) can stop the linkage returning fully home.

I had a similar problem. I put the fuel lines under a bit of pressure by turning on the ignition but not starting and true enough found fuel in the vee. Went round all the under bonnet fuel line connections and gave the clips a tighten and it seemed to cure the problem. Obviously was an air leak which some helpful forum members had suggested.

As previous, sounds like an air leak into the inlet manifold. Check servo connection.

Might be a good idea to check the ignition timing and advance / retard mechanism too.

It may be obvious but also worth re-checking that the whole linkage set up is working correctly and not sticking somewhere - I had this problem and it was simply down to lack of use and lubrication in parts of the linkage.
