    Soft top

Evening gents, I am looking to replace my soft top and dropped into a place local to me who advertise in e bay as doing stag tops. They said that the original tops were vinyl not the much heavier double duck, this didn't seem right to me but as the material is lighter it does seem that it might fold away easier.Has anyone fitted one of these tops or any ideas on how good it might be.

NOOOOOOOOOOOO DONT DO IT.. you will regret it.
Nothing beats the look of the cloth top. I'm guessing that the fitting cost would be the same and you're saving a couple of quid on the top (but its your dime).

Never heard of vinyl soft tops before only sunroofs (Webasto) and glued on vinyl roofs to metal.

Didn't think original Stag soft tops were vinyl anyway.

Stag tops were never vinyl. Unlike MGBs, Spitfires, TR6s, Heralds, Vitesses, etc.........

Double Duck was the original Mk1 spec, with Mohair introduced early in 1973. DD had a black lining, mohair had a beige lining. Having said that, the soft top on my Stag has no lining at all............

Oookay, so double duck it is then, I would fit it myself anyway cos I'm tight and the vinyl is only about £80.00 cheaper anyway. Mine will last until the winter anyway so long as I give it a good dose of renovo and by then I hope to have the hard top done. Besides I've started to get a bit precious about taking it out in the rain since I got it back together so the tops not often up anyway.
                  Thanks for the info anyway.
