    Hi

Try Renovo hood reviver but be careful at putting too much on down the stitching as it came through and stained the beige inside of the hood on mine but made the hood look like new on the outside.

I used vinyl cleaner on mine.. y'know, the stuff you clean vinyl roofs with.

My soft top sat folded for 20+ years and was covered in all sorts of nastiness, and it came up a treat. Took about an hour. Well worth it.

I think the problem is fading of the material to grey, not one of cleanliness, although they do need to be cleaned thorughly before applying any reviver (dye).

I would not use boot polish, as it would probably come off on your hands when folding the hood.

I think the Renovo includes a colourant as well, and the results are very good, even with faded materials. When buying the containers state the colour of the material for which they are intended

I used the Renovo kit from Paddocks, about £60. Cleaner first day followed by colour restorer the next followed by the ultra proofer on the third day and it made a huge difference to the look and feel of the roof. Can't say I noticed any leakage to the inside of the roof but that was fairly stained to start with. The plastic window cleaner that came with the kit also worked a treat and used twice has removed pretty much all of thirty years of grime. It also took out a lot of the yellowing to the plastic and I can see clearly through the rear window, not that the roof has been up much lately.
