Borg Warner 65 Whining first gear

My new aquisition has a whining first gear. Neither my son nor I noticed it on the test drive, so it can't be that bad.
Q 1. Has anybody used Lucas Transmission Fix additive item 10009? Does it improve things? Is it worth the ££
Q 2. Any leads with regard to obtaining recon unit. (or good s/h) I was thinking of Tate & Lewis but apparently the cost has rocketed due to the diminishing supply of ZF boxes.

The 65 first gear whine is relatively common and not a concern - save your cash for the other wobblies the car may throw at you

Save additives for last resort rather than sticking it in a working box. The last time I put additives in a slightly iffy 35, the front clutch ate itself within a mile.. I should have just cut the middle man out and take the box out to fix first time - luckily it was in a 2.5pi and box out, replace clutches and back in was only 7 hours..

My 65 whines in first gear and clunks when slowing from 3rd. Been like that for 25000 miles! As Kryton says, save your money and live with it like I have. If you also get the clunk, just shift into 2nd when you slow down and it magically disappears ��

I asked Carl if I had been a numpty as I am used to 'pro-boards' forum and they all work differently. I had posted twice & nothing appeared
Although I am a member (for the 3rd time!!) Carl said I was a non member & therefore had to be moderated, so perhaps my membership has yet to filter through the system.
