    THAT SINKING FEELING

    Hi Guys

Took the stag out for a run yesterday as the sun was shining, I had been driving for around 5 miles when I noticed the temp guage going towards the red rapidly, with a sinking feeling I stopped car with steam pouring out of bonnet, I lifted bonnet and a core plug was letting out water, nearside front core plug above the spark plugs.all over hot exhuast manifold.

A very very nice man came out and stuck some sort of 2 pack compound onto core plug which sealed the leak, refilled with coolant and followed me as I drove car home, you can imagine my releif when the temp guage stayed stable bang in the middle as normal, looks like I have been lucky and stopped the car before serious damage was done.

This is the second core plug that has caused problems in the last couple of months, the first was rusted, the engine was rebuilt 3 years ago so would you expect to replace core plugs this often or do you think that it has been fitted with duff core plugs, can you recommend a good source of quality plugs.

    Thanks

    Hi Mick.

More like they never changed the core plugs, seem to be a lot of bodged jobs coming to light lately.

How many have found****e work been done your cars.

    Paul.

if its 3 years old, the plug will still have a nice bright plating (not sure what alloy is) on it. If it hasnt then they are the old ones.
