    steering pump

does anyone know if it's possible to run the steering pump form the a/c pulley as I have fitted a new 4 core rad and the fan is a bit to close for my liking. I was hoping to take the front pulley off then the fan would move away from the rad. anyone had the same problem ?

Strange that the fan is too close to a four row radiator, as that is the type most commonly fitted, so it should be OK. You won't be able to fit the fan without the small pulley as the viscous coupling fits on to it. Probably the best thing to do is to elongate the holes in the bottom radiator support panel, so it can be moved forward a bit. How close is it? Perhaps "Your liking" is worrying unnecessarily??

Same problem ? Yes. My fan bolts were probably not much more than 2 or 3 mm from the rad . I adjusted the top brackets as best as I could and elongated the bottom holes as Mike suggests but it still runs bloody close - maybe 5 mm - and too close to even fit a new fan belt

However, I've done maybe 10,000 miles like that without a problem .

Some suggest fastening a spare belt to the front cover, ready to fit if necessary, but I just keep a close eye on the condition of mine. The only other worry is if the engine mounts go soft and allow the engine, and fan, to move forwards slightly.

      Cheers

      Julian.
