I would have thought that unless you had a particular reason to do it then you might just as well replace the oil and filter every 3000 miles and be done with it. I do mine once a year which is only about 1000 miles or so as I am only a fair weather Stagger!
If it was stored and not turned over then all the oil will have drained to the sump, an oil change would be good enough, I would do an oil and filter change now, then another one in 500 miles, if the oil comes out pretty clean then you should be okay, (keep an eye on the oil on the dipstick betwen changes) then go to 3000 miles or annually. The problemwith cleaners/flushers is thatthey potentially, can disturb any crud and distribute it around the engine, making the situation worse!
Unless you can see sludge etc it is probably a waste of time and money using flush. I got some temporary improvement with hydraulic tappets in my Vaux 16V, but it didnt cure the problem.
Hiya, if you've ever stood by listening, while a70s engine runs on flushing oil, you wouldn't ask, the word horrible doesn't begin to describe it ! Some older engines benefit from a bit of sludge helping tokeep the oil pressure up.
