    Vacancy coming up?

I would imagine so reading Kingpins section in the magazine. Also,I believe that the bookmakers have stopped taking bets on a change in the workshop

Who let it slip then? in keeping with the Kingpin theme, I think I know who it was

I do not see a problem - so what if someone in the trade is willing to write a lot of good technical advice for the club mag - which is why a lot of people join in the first place! and is by far the best bit each month. If he gets a bit of publicity and extra work in return - good!

The only people who could have a problem with that would be other buisinesses? Well they could write something - I bet they would not want the bother.

If we are back to the argument of upsetting advertisers - I do not think the club realises its position - if you are in the Stag buisiness you are not going to want to fall out with the owners club.

So lets make sure he stays - if the club rules say he cannot continue then they need to be changed.

The easy answer is whether youknow who it is, or think you know just keep STUM. No problem.

Ok I have stated earlier that I know who Kingpin is, and I have enjoyed a bit of teasing, but I didn't publicly share my thoughts because I respect Kingpin's right to privacy. I had no idea of the implications of club politics etc. so although at least 2 other forum members know what I know, I won't say anymore for the benefit of all.

I apologise ifI have caused any ill feeling.

I totally agree that Kingpin is by far the best bit of the mag, not only really good technical stuff but also supported by great photos. In my humble opinion if a trader is willing to go to such lengths they should benefit from the publicity. If another trader had a problem with this, perhaps they could write something - imagine how good the mag would be then.....

I'm sure many members were very grateful for the information supplied by the likes of Tony Hart etc over the years - would be a shame to lose the Kingpin articles because of club rules.

I don't think there should be an issue if Kingpin is identified - look at what the other Clubs do, in the TSSC magazine, Tony Lindsey-Dean often writes technical articles without a pseudonym and it is well known in Triumph circles that he prepares engines for racing and develops other bits for sale to owners. His roller rockers are well known and used by many and yet there is no perceived conflict between being a Trader and contributor to the club magazine at the same time.

Why should it be any different for Kingpin? other than there seems sto be a continuing quest to identify him!

What is the problem if we do all know who Kingpin is? The mag would be much poorer without his articles in my opinion, in fact I would quite like to see more. I am also a member of another Triumph Owners Club and one of the most well known (and respected) traders regularly writes very interesting articles without any attempt to conceal his name. As a few people have said if other traders don't like it then they are quite free to write articles of their own!!

Same in the Triumph 2000, 2500 Register - Chris Witor has written masses of great technical articles.

As far as I'm concerned the club membership is great value and the committee members should be commended for all their efforts. I do feel however, that it might be worth re-thinking the mag. The local reports seem to use up a great deal of expensive and un-environmentally friendly print/paper - couldn't that info be posted on the club website instead? Surely the only part that could be of any interest is your own local report - or am I just a self absorbed, unrepresentative technical anorak?
