    Rough running when cold

Hi all. 'Lily' has started to run rough when cold. She's very lumpy on start-up and the exhaust is quite smokey and pungent smelling. Once I've driven about a quarter of a mile and put the choke in, she settles down and runs normally. I'd be grateful for any advice please.

Have you tried putting the choke to about half way soon after starting? You shouldnt need much choke in the summertime just enough to start.

Thanks for the reply. I use about 1/3 choke and put it in asap. I've tried starting her without choke but she won't fire. I've owned the car for 2 months and up until last week, she was running fine when cold. I did have a carb linkage ball joint break last week and I thought the problem was down to that but I fitted a new ball joint today and it made no difference.
