    Dash and Lights

Today my new dash arrived ,its a walnut veneerer type the one that you stick on yourself . I removed the dash and set about fitting the veneerer to the dash its not easy but its all on now and looks fantastic ,I will post some pics when its back in the car just need to sort out the radio fitting I am getting a new radio(birthday present )so I have ordered an adaptor from robsport .Whilst the dash is out I thought I would tackle the problem of the dull dash lights by fitting some LED lights to the speedo ,rev counter etc ,but the bulbs are a screw fit and I don't seen to be able to find screw fit LED is there a supplier or do you need to modify the holders .

I got some bulbs from here, but they are very expensive I believe you can get them from the USA or Hong Kong cheaper.

John, did you find that the instrument holes were larger than the dash holes, and there is an unsightlygap? Did all the holes line up OK? If yours is a Mk1 did you have to cut the hole for the glove box lamp?

          Hi steve

yes it is one of those dashes, it cost me just under £50 . you can see a slight water mark if you look from the side and catch the light just right . obviously you get what you pay for but I think they are good value for money

I was hoping for blackpool illuminations but sadly not that good. the trouble is we all get used to modern instruments.-------------- But they have made a difference ---------I can now read the clocks which I found very difficult before, so the bottom line is yes they have made a difference.--------But you cant dim them they are on or off.

I tried two things: I bypassed the dimmer rheostat and connected them permanently; then I fitted 5w bulbs (difficult as the glass bulb is too big). Still too gloomy. I might try the LEDs next.

The dash is completed but still no luck with the dash lights I fitted the L E D bulbs but they only work on side lights when I put the headlights on the dash lights go out.
