    Steering rack suppliers

The Stag has just failed its MOT on "excessive play from steering rack" and "excessive fluid leaking" from same, plus a couple of other things including disintegrating drag strut bushes (I though I'd fitted poly and they would outlast the car, but was obviously wrong)
Can anyone recommend a supplier for the rack please? (Paddocks are out of stock)
    TIA

They too are OOS although they should presumably recon your own if you can wait long enough?

I have found that each rack has a different feel, and the amount of assistance varies between different racks, and cant really be adjusted. So if your current rack works OK apart from the leaks I would strongly recommend waiting for yours to come back.

I bought an old spare and overhauled that myself, then swapped them over. Cured the leaks but the rack is not quite as nice as my old one, which some day I might overhaul that and swpa back.

Kevin, It totally agree with Chris's comment, its true

Faversham Classic have a bod who does them and they could help you but get yours done if its a nice feel ()

If it has excessive play is it not scrap?
If not how is it "reconditioned"?
Also why would I want to keep the feel of a sloppy rack?
          {confused}😩

Before you say goodbye to your old rack due to excessive play, check all the other usual suspects. There are so many places where you can get play before the rack is condemmed. I found most of the play in mine in the steering column splines. Also universal coupling had some as well, it can all add up. But if it is all in the rack, there is a pin that wears between the input shaft and torsion bar, in which case they should be able to easily re-pin it.

No - just a link I saw plus was it was quite competitive with postal return & pickup.
They appear to have 3 in stock which is a time saver.

Kevin, my mot man suggested rubber bushes for drag struts as the poly ones are not appropriate for this type of function. Something to do with the way the thrust transfers cutting through the poly.

i have kevin over a year ago and done a lemans trip plus a few other long excursions without issue ,there was a problem with the first rack which they rectified quickly enough and the price includes delivery and collection of the exchange IIrc.
also afaik they are the or were at least and still may be the suppliers for LD parts.

What came out resembled very hard cheese, but lasted about 8 years, a new set is around £20.
I have no faith in rubber parts these days.
