    Ballast wiring

    Hi can any one help!
I've got limenition system and a coil with ballast
The coil seems to be getting really hot
Can anyone send me a wiring diagram from ignition to resistor to coil to distributor
Also the wire on the ballast is it connected across it?

Istr thast when electronic conversions are fitted you will need to run a 12 volt coil instead of the 9 volt unit .

Assuming you have Mk1 system: White wire from igntion switch goes (via speedometer) to one side of ballast; then other end of ballast goes to coil POS. Coil NEG goes to your Lumenition etc.

What's the speedometer got to do with the ignition wiring.

I don't think it is true. Lumenition, Piranha and Powerspark should all be used in conjunction with the original ballast system according to the manufacturers. I suspect others will be the same.

Think there are two types of Lumenition. One simply replaces the points and uses the original coil and ballast, the other is a full CD system thar needs a special coil without ballast. Blowed if I can recall just what each is called just now.

There is an echo here - Post #4......

I'm sure Chris made a slight error and meant tachometer, not speedometer. Easily done

                      Thanks Dave,

I copied and pasted as there was no answer given and it confused me.

                      Makes sense now.

                      Jeff.
