Rear Spring Mounts

Hello!

My rear Spring mounts that are welded to the chassis leg have corroded badly and will need replacement. However I cannot ascertain whether the replacement spring seat sits on top of the chassis leg or is recessed into it so that the top of the spring is level with the underside of the chassis leg. I have seen photos where both repairs have taken place.

Was the chassis leg a complete closed box and the spring seat welded on top of it originally?

Picture of one of mine when car was getting bodywork sorted, would appear to be a stamped out part welded to the chassis leg which is a complete box section.

Rimmers list repair items as:- Upper Rear Spring Repair Section - RH & LH, Part No RS1558, cost £15.42 ex VAT

Chassis might need repair to box section before these are fitted.
