Ok, the digital ones that I've got aren't the most expensive or sophisticated but if you forget to turn them off then they flatten their own batteries but, most importantly, with my old analogue type, a quick touch to check continuity instantly sees the needle shoot across the screen whereas the digital one counts down to zero (and then I have to remember that zero is a 'good' result, not a bad one )

    Cheers

You're not wrong Mike and I bow to your superior knowledge . I love SIMPLE electrics - just working through a wiring loom or sorting out something that's not working so all I usually need is a 12v tester or a continuity tester and that's about it

              Cheers

                Meggers
Meggers, also known as Megan, is the most amazing girl you'll ever come across in your entire lifetime. She's absolutely perfect, it's impossible to find a single flaw. If you're ever to come across her, you'd most likely die of awe. Some characteristics of her would be amazing, beautiful, smart, sweet, charming, lovable, funny, sarcastic, cute, heart-warming, pretty, adorable, and the list goes on. She's perfect in every way, she has a great sense of humor, charm that no one can resist, ideas that cannot be ignored, eyes that could light the night sky, the mind of a genius, heart of a lion, and the beauty of a goddess. She's the kind of girl you'd want to grow old with, and tell your children's children about. On a scale of 1-10, 10 being the highest, she's easily ranked ∞. She can put a smile on anyone's face, cast a spell on any guys heart, and cheer you up at the worst of times. You can tell her anything, rely on her to keep a promise, and know she'll be there when you need her most.

Fabulous just the antipathy of the "Megger" being discussed here which was a brute force way of finding problems - but usually with higher voltage kit which they promptly made worse as their even higher test voltage could induce tracking where none existed before! (God forbid that this device was used with any item that could even be loosely descrbed as "electronics")

Meggar- brand name for an insulation resistance tester. Not a brute force way of finding problems just a way of testing an appliance insulation. Can be used at 240v, 500v, 1000v and 2.5KV. You won't be allowed to power up a switchboard without these tests. Part of my Job.

Not really suitable for car leccies.
