I am thinking about changing my auto box to a manual box if anybody has any advice like how difficult it is this would be much appreciated. And also would my starter fit because if I am correct isn't the starter on the other side.

You'll need a good box c/w overdrive, engine to gearbox adapter plate, flywheel, clutch, pedal box, prop shaft, wooden gear-lever surround, clutch master cylinder, slave cylinder, hydraulic pipe and gearbox wiring loom. The starter motor doesn't change sides.Dave

The actual conversion cost wise was similar to the cost of converting from a 3 speed to a 4 speed auto box. Roughly £3000. That included a refurbished gearbox and overdrive, the clutch, pedal box, a load of other stuff like gear surround, labour and VAT. I am really pleased with the conversion. I had some other work done at the time (polybush, steering column rebuild, and diff/driveshaft) combined it has transformed the car.Originally posted by Chinski View PostWas the conversion expensive? It sounds it?
I always wanted a manual. However when I was looking for the car, the advice I was given was 'get the best you can afford.' In my opinion, mechanical things are easier to repair than bodywork, so I specifically looked for a solid car. I read Edd's stag project with interest, but knew I wouldn't have the time, knowledge or patience to do what he did. Total kudos to anyone who can weld. I would probably end up catching something on fire and it would look awful when I had finished.
