    Another leak - Fuel Pump!

    I should have kept my mouth shut saying the stag was behaving itself, maybe i haven't been using it enough!

    I have got another strong smell of fuel in the boot. The suspect this time is the electric fuel pump pipe connectors.

    I have circled the offending area, i can see fuel seeping through the screw in join. I have tried a little bit of sealant, but its too hard to get around the join without clogging the pipe.

    Anyone know what the screw in connectors are called? I cant try and source a replacement as i can only refer to the bits as the "thingys the fuel pipe connects to that screw in to the pump"

    Any help appreciated!

    Hi Alastair,

    They are called banjo connectors and have a corky like washer on either side. Someone else will be along with more technical info soon I am sure.

      Thanks Al,

      I am always amazed at how quick i get an answer on this forum! It makes me look lazy as i often take ages to then fix the problem after someone tells me how to fix it!

        They are fibre washers, available at most of the usual suppliers, best pic is here:

          even better, a 14p fix!

          i've not checked the postage and packing yet! I'll try and get them from my local motor factor tomorrow.

            x 4 - you need four of them! I would change all of them if one has started leaking.

              I would only change the two on the leaking pipe. I am a firm beleaver that it aint broke don't fix it---particularly on an old car

                Got poofta tape round mineas I still had the tiniest seepage even with new fibre washers - I swear blind unleaded creeps more than the "old" petrols did....

                The poofta (plumbers ptfe) tapesorted it though

                    I am sure ptfe isn't designed to withstand petrol! unless anyone knows differently
