PS: Classic Driving Developments sell new CV driveshafts with new hubs and quality bearings (they say) at somewhere around £950, convinced me I've bought a pair.

Do you know what CV units are used, for when they wear out,or would you have to buy another complete drive shaft

No, not as of yet, if in the many years I hope these last, (modern CVs like these get considerable mileages) the identity or source comes available great, if not I'll deal with that at the time.

I have just bought a pair of skyline half shafts any body got any body got any info on what needs to be done to make them up please a very pretty please.

Still cant find the oil leak I think I've got weber syndrome.
Doesn't appear to be front of heads, have changed water pump for a leccy one, still the same. Have just bought a ford water pump hoping to make up another conversion becos the missus is a bit worried about if we run out of lectric, so there's another project, nearly ready to swap gbox, all parts made finally got a prop shaft, also got a spare jag box.
This car is certainly keeping me busy.
life would be boring without a stag every day there is something else to do

+1 for the shafts available from classicdrivingdevelopments. I've been working with the owner to get a solution for my BMW diff which is going well, I can't recommend the service more highly.

Incidentally he also does a trailing arm stud kit in which the studs are stepped. I think this is a better solution than helicoling as it ends up removing less material from an area which is already reasonably thin. The kit comes with a drill and tapping jig which is lent out and returned once the job is done. I've just had this and it's a very well engineered solution.

Had a look through the website. Products look well engineered and the designer has a good engineering background. Not a disclaimer in sight.

Check out the various trailing arm and rear hub thread,s over the last 18 months we've been recommending the oversize 3/8th UNC stud with the 5/16th UNF standard hub end studs to help prevent the more obvious 5/16th Helicoil solution breaking through the trailing arm walls. CDD is where we'd sourced them from.

Hi, There was in Australia, a chap offering a conversion kit to marry Datsun/Nissan halves with the other half Triumph. The UJ bearing cups on the Nissan UJ have the retaining clips on the inside as against the Triumph ones on the outside. His conversion gives a half and half solution. He maybe still willing/able to supply. I think the Datsun series of 180 SX sporting coupes used the same system as did the 200B saloon. Here in NZ a guy built himself a V12 powered Trike and used 180B halfshafts, No problem he reckoned.
                      Cheers Ian A

There was a member on here who made and sold a few in the past (I bought a pair) but the availability of 180B driveshafts has virtually dried up over here unfortunately.

Spoke with the member who sourced and sold some of the Datsun stagshafts, now not an option.

Also spoke and e mailed the Australian gent and got advice from him regarding the considerable work involved with altering the Datsun driveshafts, including hybrid UJs hence that's why I questioned what would need doing with flanges and Ujs etc and if the faff about would apply to the Skyline units.
I sourced maybe the last pair of Datsun driveshafts in January this year, and passed on the contact to one of our SOC members (I advertised on this site if anybody wanted them, and only had the one reply) after deciding that a new CV shaft with new hubs, bearings and stub axles for under £1K from CDD would be a better and more assured conversion. The hub price new alone is around the £700 area for a pair, which is definitely a safety item to fit with whichever driveshafts you choose.
