How nuch oil in diff?

Now I put a measured amount in the diff as per the factory manual.
When fitted, I removed the level plug to find the oil higher than the level plug.
Which is correct?
Should I drain off down to the level plug or trust the factory amount?

I drained my diff via the filler plug using suction and refilled - it took just over the 1.2 litres as per the manual. How level is the car? The filler plug is at the forward end and any increased height at the rear due to any lifting method will cause a significant outspill.

So you put in more than the manual says to reach the level plug?
If anything, the car is pointing slightly uphill.
Maybe I should drain to the level plug then, dont want to blow any seals after just changing the diff due to oil leaking!

The Manual says 1.1 litres. I was pumping it in so some drained back out hence about 1.2 litres as measured.
