    Buying stuff from another country

I buy bits and stuff from other flebays and up to now never had a problem.
This last time from Germany seems to have brought up a small problem to light. I got my bank to send the amount in euros to his bank ( seems most Germans don't use Paypal ), my bank charged me P10.00 and his bank charged him a E6.50 fee for the privilege.
Now he wants me to pay this E6.50 fee........... The problem :-

For me to send him E6.50 it will cost me P10.00, for him to receive it, it will cost him E6.50......For me to get my money back it will cost both of us.......

Banks, don't you just love them. WTFFF

Put a €10 note in an envelope and post it to him. Problem solved.

As a seller I have had to pay this a few times. I think that's the reasonable thing to do.
BTW: How much was the item?

You have to specify OUR or SHARE when you instruct your bank so that only you (OUR) carry the costs or both parties SHARE the costs. Outside of EU you can also specify BEN(eficiary) so that recipient pays the charges.

          Malc,

if it was a piddling small bit which would make the expense of €6,50 + £10 silly, pm me the blokes name and address and I'll pop €6,50 in an envelope to him. You can buy me a breakfast bap at Stoneleigh sometime!

Thanks Drew for the offer. The item total was E150.00 and his profit on this is also pretty high i'm sure.. Its a want, not a need item bit like a NOS bit for the Stag.
Chris, I also did European sales for a while and some times you just have to swallow these pesky but annoying bank fees.
My feeling is that l sent him the amount for the item, I shouldn't be held responsible for his banks fees.......Its not like its a massive amount for him on that total. But we will see......

I have bought things from Germany before and this has never come up as a problem. Maybe l'm his first UK customer
