B post protectors - screw holes

Hi

I bought 2 new B post protectors from Paddocks. I tried to fit them today but found the screw holes do not line up?

I found the hole centers on the protectors to be 152.5 mm apart (i.e. 6.00 ") whereas the hole centers on the B post are just over 158mm apart (158mm is max reading on my calipers) so probaly 6.25 " apart. Which is correct ? Before I send the protectors back to Paddocks can someone else please measure the distance between the hole centres as it is possible of course that a PO or even professional restorer has drilled the holes at the wrong spacing originally.

Had some bought for me a couple of years ago from one of the usual suspects, same storey the holes didn't line up. You wouldn't think it would be that difficult to drill the holes in the right place at the factory!!
Some of the repo stuff is absolutely ****e.

Bought a set of protectors from the Bros this year and had the same problem.
It appeared that the original protectors were slightly curved (like a "banana") and the new ones were straight.
So they didn't fit right away and I had to drill a new hole for the centre one.

There is two ways of looking at this. New positions mean nice new holes to drill. Old holes gradually become bigger and I have seen some ugly fixings being used due to this.
I welded up most of my holes in the top window and anywhere where trim is drilled as you can never depend on trim fitting. Even the trim might be a different thickness after a restoration.

Point taken Edd but in my case the fixing holes were fine and I just wanted to take the old ones off and put the new ones on but previous experience with the new parts available I think that was a little too much to ask for.

Thanks to all for comments. Having looked more closely I find that not only are the fixing holes wrong but the profile seems incorrect also.
