adjust doors

hi my garage guy just rang me to say he cant adjust the doors the car had a respray when I bought it and they just bolted the doors on is there anything hes missing there quit a bit out and I don't like slamming them like this
any help would be appreciated

Hi Richard,

There is quite a lot of adjustment. The hinges are mounted to the a-pillar on captive plates which allow some movement. The hinges attach to the doors with more captive plates allowing movement. Finally, the door locks and plates can also be adjusted.

I made the mistake of taking a door off at the A pillar which meant a lot of messing about to get it back in line, this might be how yours has been taken off Richard. As Dave says there is a lot of adjustment, just takes a little while (and patience - something in short stock in my case) to get it sorted. I tried to move one variable at a time which eventually worked. Good luck

You can also gain more adjustment by elongating the slots on the hinges themselves. A small pry bar wrapped in tape is handy too to move the hinge on the a post with a slight bit of tension on. Otherwise every time you fully losen you start from scratch.
You can also use a felt too pen to mark your last position.

we cant get the door pillar hinge off due to messed up screw drivers side.
the passenger side door the top window side is hiting the chrome bit by soft top looks like I will need to find someone who knows more about this because I hate slamming the door its not right maybe stag body shop. or something first the project was going sweet but lately 1thing after another

Yes as you have pointed out the adjustment of the door might lead to the window frame also needing further adjustment.
Also the lock catch. I spent ages on mine and even shortened the lower frame bracket to allow the frame to travel towards the rear of the car. Maybe you have a keen local member who might be able to help ?
