    Club / Suppliers Survey

    Hi All,

A mentioned in another thread it was suggested that a suppliers survey could be beneficial to members and give members an opportunity to put forward their opinions about their club. The name and membership number used only to verify there right to submit their opinion.

As a past member of the MG Owners Club (which is a commercial venture) they carried out a annual survey of members which included suppliers.

Attached are photos of the survey for October 2013 and the results that were published in March 2014

The Survey was available online and whilst it was some 4 months before the results were published due to the wide range of questions this type of survey was acted upon by the club and changes were made after consideration.

    Just a thought provoker.

I thought it was illegal to own a Triumph and an MG at the same time.

Guilty, but driving a MG makes you appreciate a Stag

Back to the original post , I think a survey would be an excellent idea.

One thing I note from that MG survey was that the 'MG Owners club spares and accessories' came out as most popular and it remains, to me, such a pity that we do not have anything similar .

SOCTFL keep telling us that their constitution does not allow them to offer such a service (why ?) and what sounds like the Stag Owners Club spares company (SOC spares) is nothing to do with the Club

              Cheers

The MG owners club offers fantastic service ,the technical phone help is first class and during office hours is immediate ,they do have the benefit of lots more members but only two main clubs for the marque, why not join all the triumph clubs together ? To gain the economies of scale ? The morris minor club keeps a stock of new and used spares ,offers a postal service and has open sales days, Apart from the forum I find the SOC a little parochial.

I had a little parochial once. The problem was I couldn't get any spares for it, so I applied the cream 3 times a day and it disappeared.

                        So 235 views 10 replies only 1 thinks it's a good idea !!!

Perhaps because the MGOC has these types of surveys is what make it such a good all round club, because members who use the survey can help decide what they feel they want, not just a few telling them what they want.Constitutions can be changed if the members agree but apart from a AGM (which I have not attended) is there any other way of making the members views heard ?

Posting a poll on here Nigel usually brings a lot of results. Why not give it a try?

Have to say that there doesn't seem to be any appettite on here for a trader recommendation system. Virtually no suggestions on the thread regarding the carb matter, no real support here and nothing sent to Mod/ Admin team.

                              I think, Ian, the forum contributors mostly fall into one of three camps;
                              Pro Vmad/H, etc.,
                              Anti Vmad/H, etc.,
and the majority, quietly neutral, members who occasionally seek or impart advice, guidance, or social interaction.

The quiet majority generally share their experience, knowledge or ignorance freely and without prejudice whilst the partisan groups occasionally muster and shout at one another across the dividing lines. The shouty groups dominate, for the duration, before "normality" returns for a while.

We hear a lot from the, alleged, (ex, or otherwise) vehicle mechanics/experts, but far less from a significant number who quietly, but often quite competently, maintain their vehicles to a high standard. (Flyingfarmer, for instance, must be one hell of an engineer but he remains quietly modest) presumably these people have their own list of trusted suppliers - often common I'm sure - compiled over many years. I know I do.

I could be wrong but; I suspect the quiet majority imagine a "trader recommendation" section would simply provoke yet another partisan shouty war that would shed little light on such a subjective issue.
