Change of colour

Hi all

Car is under going (hopefully) final engine rebuild, and conversion to manual, and should be back on the road in a matter of weeks...(after about 25 years off the road - not all due to me I might add!)! Exciting times...(some may say, just in time for winter!)

The car was originally white, but the previous owner (or possibly the one before him) changed the colour to green (at some point in the last 25 years ish). The v5c still shows the colour as being white, so needs to be updated.

A complicating factor is that I have absolutely no idea when the colour was changed, so I am not sure what date to put in the box on the v5. Can this be backdated to say 1990?

In addition, I need to change the tax class to historic, which I know I just need to fill in the relevant box, take it to a post office and tax it at nil cost - I understand they send the form off for me then. However, I am not sure whether to take the v5 with the historic change and the colour change to the post office at the same time - will the change of colour just confuse them. Or should I just make one change at a time?

Does anyone else have experience of this and/or could help here please?

Regarding colour, all you have to do is fill in the appropriate box in the V5, date of change is presumed as the date of notification. This can be done at same time as changing class & taxing. Description of colour is basic, ie GREEN, shade is irrelevant.

Thanks John - appreciate that. Having spent the best part of three weeks trying to sort mot and tax issues out with dvla and dvsa, I was worried about causing more issues/complications for them...!
