    Battery Choice

    Hi Folks,

Looks like my battery has given up the ghost.
What advice, if any, can you offer regarding its replacement. Not something I've ever had to do.

What's available to you in France Most important thing is that it fits (Same dimensions as you have) and the terminals are the correct way round. Higher AH is also good but don't go too mad unless you have an uprated Alternator. (56 AH is standard) and an 072 should fit but make sure the dimensions are the same.

As to make and price that's up to you

      Hi Donkey,

There are a number of online sellers, this one seems to be recommended on other forums as well. http://www.performancebatteries.fr/

They list a battery for the Stag and under 'other information' you can check the size etc. 76€ - delivery is free.

Saying that, the supermarkets are often quite competitive on price.

Thanks, we have a good range here, that's when my head scratching started. I went to the local "Kwickfit" type outlet with tape measure in hand and had no problem with similar sizes but was confused by the choices.

        Cheers,

          Thanks Rob, I'll try that.
It seems that Roady's price is around 100 Euros.

Hey, looks a good price and make but I think Rob's might be a better bet, good spec and free delivery in France. Thanks all the same, Jeff.

Hi Donkey ( do we HAVE to call you that ?)

I'm not sure which one you were looking at from Performance Batteries, but I'd go along with Jeff's suggestion. The Bosch battery is good and, I believe, the Varta one is almost identical.

                Cheers

I got a battery off Robsport a make called Platinum and it's been brilliant, thoroughly recommend the brand.

Hi Julian, no, the names Brian. I'll drop the dead Donkey from now on.

                    Thanks for your comments.

                        Hi Neil,

I don't know about that battery but I do know that the name 'Lucas' isn't what it used to be. In fact, as I understand it, the current Lucas has absolutely nothing to do with the original one I believe.

I'd still recommend the Bosch/Varta one mentioned earlier.

                        Cheers

                        Julian

Ps. This is the one I got - a little more expensive, but don't our cars deserve the best ?

Come on guys, don't forget we are talking about France here, not the good old UK!

Most companies refuse to deliver to France, and if they do it is at the most ridiculous rates - but this of course is compensated for by the quiet roads, lack of double yellows, ctv cameras and parking fees.

Brian, also have a look at Amazon.fr they are usually competitive.
