Not having a lot of luck with the work you have had done are you Can't you take it back to whoever done it and get them to put it right..
Ian.

I had an intermittent noise from my car when I pressed the clutch which suddenly got much worse.
I pulled the gearbox and the spigot bush was loose on both the gearbox input shaft and in the end of the crank - it was also just beginning to break up. The release bearing didn't feel particularly bad. Judging by the noise, I expected to find far worse.
New spigot bush and complete clutch (Paddocks uprated like you) and I've got a perfect clutch again.
Apart from that I would have thought the only other cause for such a noise could be gearbox related.
hi Julian
when I press the clutch it goes away sounds like the bearing but how can we tell unless take out gearbox again will ask him tomorrow about the spigot bush
too many problems with this guy hes a 70 per hour Porsche technician and also does classics having doughts about his ability now I haven't paid him fully yet see what he says
yes got a text back from mechanic he has done the bush he had to modify it I remember him telling me. he said its just the bearing and not to worry
saying that I was told by another stag guy that even if we got a new clutch the bearing will start to make a little noise again soon that's why I thought live with it its not that bad when driving with the sound and everything but ive still to go long distance in it see how it goes .
cheers

yes ian not much luck so far.
£70/ hour Porsche technician in London area....Hmmmmmm
I know a mechanic who travels the world doing racing poached eggs (or is it porkers?)- and he doesnt charge that much on his hourly rate.
If only the good independents could get that sort of money around here, A very good friend of mine who has a garage charges 40 per hour - seems the going rate around Hull.
Were the clutch fork pins changed, and the fit of the cross shaft bolt tweaked? The Paddocks cross shaft bolt needs teasing to go fully in. Also the cross shaft bushes should allow free movement with no binding, and the rollpin taken out of the bearing carrier and redrilled a few degrees round to give a fresh surface for the fork pins. The new spigot bush has to be boiled in engine oil before fitment as it is an oilite bearing designed to self lubricate - some just fit the bearing dry and copaslip the bearing and shaft - recipe for disaster - as to modifying the bush...WTF? Doesn't need modifying so it was probably ruined while fitting or crank damaged removing old one.
If all these things aren't done, the release bearing doesn't retract correctly and squeaks on the cover or the spigot bush howls - I have done enough to know the pitfalls
If you can't get the gearbox taken out again, get the Revington TR adjustable clutch pushrod and a return Spring, and you can adjust the release bearing squeak out but you will have to periodically adjust the clutch to avoid wear
took the car out today around 40mile runs real ice as it hasn't been driven properly for 3 years no smoke or funny engine noises very enjoyable car to drive
cant hear the bearing thing when driving I filled it up with petrol 57.00 I think its gone over smells of petrol in car a bit
