    Horn fxing

Sounds a daft question, but would someone kindly tell me what fixing is used to fix the horns to the body?

I am putting my boxes of bits in order and have two horns but no set screws/bolts which are identified as being with the horns. I have checked the suppliers' sites and whilst I can see the horns, unless I am being blind, I cannot see the relevant fixing, either on their sites or in the ROM.

    Thanks

    Barry

In fact, whilst doing the job perfectly, the bracket in Drew's picture is not the original set up.

There is a bracket, very similar to that, but instead of the two fixing bolts, there are two studs that form part of the bracket and are just held, on the engine side of that panel, by nuts.

I needed one some time ago and got one from one of the breakers (Just Triumph ?)

      Cheers

Yes, you are right Julian. The picture was more meant to show the bracket. IIRC there was something not right wrong on mine concerning studs etc. I seem to recall that one bracket had studs and for the other there were captive (or welded) nuts on the bulkhead.

Many thanks. I think I might until the bodyshell returns, to see what is there. With not having a studs, nuts or anything bagged, what was there may have been destroyed in the removal process, as I recall stripping more that the odd nut and bolt at the front end, not all of which I may kept.

Oops ! I'm not right after all

I was getting confused - there IS a bracket with two studs, as I said - picture below - but then there must be a second bracket, just like Drew's picture that fixes to this.

I've found this bracket often stays on the bodyshell - if you're lucky Barry it may have stayed on yours.

            Cheers

Julian, I have the bracket in Drew's picture as it is still attached to the horn units, but I'll have to see if those in your picture come back with the bodyshell. I don't specifically recall them, but the shell is a big lump of metal and they are tucked away.
I have seen similar brackets to your picture, but IIRC, these were labelled as being connected with the transmission tunnel.

At least it has given me some idea what I should be looking for, so many thanks

There are similar brackets next to the transmission tunnel which are for the rear gearbox mount.

I confirm Julian's bracket as I had to repair a broken stud on mine. Still not sure whether there were two though - will have a gander tomorrow.IMG_3067 (Custom).JPG

Ok. In this pic you can see the brackets from the engine side. Although they're black in this picture, I seem to remember that they're body colour.

                  Cheers

They are black Julian. And one for each horn as shown.
They look similar to the gearbox brackets, but not the same.

                      Thanks guys.
Having had another root around in my boxes, the only ones I have are for the transmission support. Even if they are still on the body I am missing the nuts and may have a stripped or damaged thread on the studs, so just as a precaution I might as well make a couple while I have more space in my garage . As they were black I am not going to have colour matching problems.
