Wear in door hinges

Hi All,

As well as the rear end rebuild, I'm trying to get the body ready for a respray. I've noticed the drivers door hinges have some play, as the rear of the door can be lifted up and down by a cm or so. Everything is adjusted so the doors work, but I wondered if the hinge pins can be replaced easily?

I don't want to risk damaging a freshly painted body with saggy doors!

I hope it's not what I'm going to say but are you sure it's hinge pins not flex In the A post ?

I wonder what makes me think of that !

probably just the bottom hinge, getting a worn pin out after 40 years might be fun. maybe easier to source a good second hand unit

Thanks Julian, it doesn't look like movement in the a-post, but between the two halves of the hinges.

true, I can imagine the bruised knuckles and swearing. The problem is buying a good second hand set. I guess any play will only show up with the heavy door fitted

i had some new hinge pins made for mine, did both hinges top and bottom,also put a bit of weld round the check strap
