Well I am confused now Are these heads now available or not?. The last I heard was they are looking for a new foundry to cast them as problems arised with them being porous. I have seen them at the nationals maybe the next one a couple will be offered for sale. Also what is the cost of these heads

    Cheers Glenn

Last time I saw the price mentioned it was £3K a pair you can get a recon engine for that

Yes, pricey, but still reasonable when you compare it with new heads for modern cars. And they are usually produced in hundreds of thousands, if not millions, so tooling costs are spread very thinly.

AHM and SOCTFL anticipate the problems with porosity have been substantially mitigated by modifying the patterns so that the castings can be produced by a hand-packed cores process rather than using blown-cores for which the patterns we originally acquired from a 3rd party in 2002 were designed. The downside of this change is that production capacity at the foundry now being used is limited but hopefully sufficient to meet demand.

As I have already said I understand that approximately 15 Millennium heads have been sold so far. The cost for a pair is likely to be around £4K depending on what other work you are having done on your engine and/or other restoration or servicing. This is expensive in relation to the value of the car but is comparable with the costs of new heads for similar classics. Also each new head bought potentially makes a good used one available to someone else, and in the longer term, the good used ones will be in increasingly short supply.

Its entirely my fault that the latest updates on heads and gaskets have not been written-up in the SOC Magazine. The action is with me but I'm afraid work and family issues have had higher priority in the past two months.

I received the good news this morning that my antifreeze leak was not coming from any where else than the RHS head gasket!!!! Decided to consult the Forum and came up with this thread, but a tad confused now as to where the best SOCTFL head gaskets are available and being 4500 miles away need to deal with a company that does accept credit cards.

I would appreciate it if someone can point me in the correct direction as to who has these gaskets in stock and for sale.I did notice that in an earlier posting the part # GEG3305 was mentioned and I did notice that it is also a part number available from Rimmers are we talking the same animal?????

8 inches of snow overnight, so glad that my garage is insulated and heated and has a good coffee delivery system. !!!!

Have a look on this website:http://www.ldparts.co.uk The extra thick BGA gaskets are listed, but not the standard ones that have been discussed here. However, I am reliably informed that Peter will stock them or can get them, and he takes credit cards and will post overseas. Postage costs are likely to be high though as head gaskets are easily bent in transit unless packaged well.

I've just seen some videos posted on FB by my brother-in-law showing the snow they have had in Ann Arbor. We've just had our first frost of the year and it has been top item on the local news!!!!

I thought where you live you would not know what snow was!!!!

I will give IDparts a go as I have ordered parts from them before.

                    Thanks

                    Robin

FYI Always trying to make owning a Stag easier and have just fitted three new wiring harnesses, one being the relay board one, decided that I would put the window circuit breaker in a much easier location that does not necessitate removing the parcel shelf if needed,so fitted a reset-able unit just at the top of the tunnel below the heater location. Now just pull the top of the carpet down 4 inches and there it is!!.

We don't see much Robin, despite being further North than Michigan. When we do get some, everything grinds (or slides) to a halt! Where are you in Ontario? We drove from Detroit to Niagara a few years ago, calling in on family in Chatham en route.

I too are retired and we live about 90 miles north of Toronto on Lake Simcoe in a place called Brechin. Speaking of Lakes the Toronto Triumph Club each summer does a 4/5 day drive and have circumnavigated Lake Ontario,Georgian Bay,Finger Lakes in NY including a few laps around Watkins Glen at our own chosen speed!!,this summer we did Lake Erie [1300 miles] and am planning for 2017 the biggest of all Lake Superior but over 10 days as total mileage will be 2015. To keep our 'better halves' happy we will restrict around Lake Superior itself to about 150-170 miles per day so more time to enjoy and explore, throw in a few antique shops and most better halves will be happy.
One member has been tasked to come up with commonly used parts across the TR spectrum for spares. This run will sort out the men from the boys when it comes to TR models.

                        Regards
