Stag on hydraulic Ramps

I have some of those also
2010-gb02.jpg
Loads of height for gearbox removal. low enough that the car can roll unassisted onto the ramps. tow rope makes it even easier.
As my ramps raise the cars needs space to roll back a little, therefore you cannot / should not use handbrake nor chocks on the rear wheels. causes damage to the ramps. Once up then chock the wheels etc
Very useful height
Works on gravelly surface
Ramps can be independently jacked at different heights
Only one lock off position which is at maximum height.
Still love em thoughLast edited by richardthestag; 19 November 2015, 15:30.Stags and Range Rover Classics - I must be a loony

I have had a set for a few years now. If the new ones lift vertically, then they are a big improvement. My design pushes the car along as the ram goes up and you have to make sure that it is not in gear or brake on or wheels chocked otherwise you build up a huge force and suddenly the ramps move, which frighten the living daylights out of you. No problem with the car rolling with the old design as the wheels go over a lip on the ramp which holds the car in place, but getting over that lip sometimes just pushes the ramp away and you have to start again. However, they really make life easier.
I am building a new garage and will put a 2 post lift in it. Not a lot of difference in price as compared to some of those scissors lifts.

Out of all the garage lifts the two post lift is the most demanding for concrete quality, depending upon which model you'll buy I think you'll find they all need 3000 LB plus concrete for their base. Don't even think of mixing it yourself even if using a mixer and I'd recommend you use an experienced architect to plan the concrete reinforcement. There will also likely to be a requirement for ground anchors for the posts (5 bolts) for each ...oh if you don't comply with the appropriate fitting requirements they'll try to kill you, ali baba may not be your friend here.
