I've got a magnetic sump plug which came with the car when I bought it. I'm pleased to have it, although always a little apprehensive about what I find on it

I don 't know where it came from but it looks identical to the one that Paddocks sell, unlike the one you show.

I would have thought it would be safer to buy from a company that specialises in Stags - and it's a lot cheaper (sorry, can't post a link)

    Cheers

Ive got a paddocks one, works fine, haven't changed the copper washer yet and after about 5 changes its still oil tight.

It is as mentioned, worrying what is found on it!!

+1 , no problems yet, but the metal sticking to it, when I change the oil, is very worrying!!!

My concern would be that NPT is American surly the sump plug on the Stag is BSP which is not compatible. Graham

That's what you would have thought, wouldn't you Graham ? However, the ROM shows it as 3/8 x 18 "Dryseal'. I didn't know what Dryseal was but when I checked, Google says "National Pipe Thread (NPT) is a US standard for tapered threads called Dryseal !

However, this raises another interesting point that confuses me. The original part number for the sump plug, gearbox drain & refill and diff level plug were all 114774 and they're all shown as 3/8 x18 Dryseal in the ROM (although in my copy of the ROM, the diff oil level plug is missprinted as 3“ x 18 ) However, I'm sure my sump plug is a different size to the gearbox and diff plugs .

            Any thoughts anybody ?

            Cheers
