    Chinese Alloy radiator?

Has anyone tried one? £190 plus £50 shipping is pretty much the same price as for a regular recon. Even if they stick you for import VAT it'd still beat the usual £500 for an alloy rad.

If it's this one then the seller has plenty of positive feedback for the various cars he sells radiators for. Only one way to find out I suppose.

          Hi Mole42

If the attached image has worked!! This guy, Colin, will make you a rad. He has a face book site where you can look at his work and as far as I know he is reasonably priced.

I have no connection apart from having met him and seen his work.

Why would you want an aluminium radiator ? As I understand it with tests that have been done copper ducts the heat away faster and it looks like it belongs under the bonnet. No offence to owners who have them before I get shouted at

Save even more money and get your existing radiator refurbished with a new, efficient, core by a local radiator specialist.

I bought one and whilst it looked nice it leaked from the start. A couple of applications of K seal reduced the leak to 'steaming' with few further dribbles, but unfortunately the K seal also reduced the effectiveness of the heater matrix. There was a considerable delay, on my part, between receiving the radiator and fitting it, and that combined with the distance and complexity to return the item persuaded me to put up with it, and I used it for 3 years. The car is currently undergoing a very slow refurb during which I intend to replace said dud with a locally sourced item.

okay, I was only asking! I don't know if an alloy rad is better, but if I need to replace the one I have I'd like to have the best.

I think that because my radiator is over 20 years old and could probably benefit from a replacement. As the Stag is my only car, taking the radiator to a local rad specialist isn't the most attractive option whereas buying a new or recon one works quite well. Wards seem to be good although I usually deal with Robsport anyone had a radiator off them?

A good specialist will recore and test your existing one, that's the route I would take

I only say wards as I have one from them, it was a very good price, extremely well made and doesn't leak at all plus, importantly it is correctly cored so it has 4 rows but not all behind one another so the cooling is better than some other 4 row rads I've seen

As I recall from tests that were done a staggard 4 core rad came out on top.

Btw I'd recore my original as well. We see and hear so many stories of how old, original, parts are better han new stuff so, if you've got the chance to use original, I would.
