Drew posted a detailed article on head removal. Albeit for a Stag, at the end of the article he kindly provided detail for a tool which could be made. http://socforum.com/forum/showthread...r-Head-Removal

Whilst we're on the subject shouldn't this tool be sponsored by the club. When I here of the money this club turns over and the cost of a tool that could be loaned out at a area level. Ie make a batch of them. Drew has done the hard work but it's a shame each individual has to make one. I think this should be put forward.

+2 JDC or was it JEC offers a loan service for special tools to members
danger though is around some sort of liability protection for club, member rents tool and damages something or even the tool ?!?
I used Paul Goldstars' "push" angle bracket and a 1 tonne bottle jack, was astonished at how easily it shifted the heads. It was way less complicated that the "puller" offering in OP message.Stags and Range Rover Classics - I must be a loony

Methinks though that the SOC is somewhat risk averse and not particularly receptive to new ideas- I won't hold my breath

Apparently the guys at Triumph Wedge Owners had offered to the SOC to forward plans for free but nothing came out of it. There was a discussion about it on FB on this subject: https://www.facebook.com/groups/7474...3337157363768/

Plans are available on the internet and published by Dasadrew in the Technical Section of this Forum. http://socforum.com/forum/showthread...r-Head-Removal

Well it's nice the mythical person spends 100k every year on a magazine but an age old problem is not tackled by the club itself. I really think local clubs should be allowed to apply for funding for area projects. This would filter down and be able to let any local member make it their baby and lend it to local members. You could impose a deposit returnable once the said tool is returned.
