    You should look at this

    I have had a funny couple of weeks and was (still am) feeling highly impulsive. The plan was to collect the Stag on Tuesday and call in to this auction house close to where the stag was being repaired. There were several cars that I was interested in from the listings; theTR6, Mustang, the Merc 500, several Merc SLs that didnt reach reserve, lancia beta, lancia montecarlo and the sc targa all looked good to me.

    My car wasnt ready, so I didnt make it. The prices that some of them made is difficult to rely on without seeing them but there appears to be some real bargins out there... The listing order would have been a problem because thetwo lancia's really caught my eyebut I would have bought the TR6 unseen at that price.

    The sold price for the TR6 does not add up. Sold for £3,400 when they have supposedly just spent £4,000 on getting the car recommisioned, whatever that means!

    Would have been cheaper just to scrap it!

      I agree - probably put in with no reserve. I watch the auction prices in classics and sportscars every month and there have been some real bargins in the last 2 or 3 months.

      There was 160-170 entries and only 32 sold. Like it or not, these values now represent the market price if you need to sell.

        Yep with the UK now officially in a recession now is not the time to be selling anything big, be it cars, houses etc. Sit tight and hope for the best is my strategy. Whether or not that works, only time will tell.

        I am putting my wifes V reg Fiat intoan auction next week. With the prices the way they are I am tempted not to bother and drive it straight to the breakers in Stoke and get 80 quid cash in hand and be done with it.

              Sorry.... Bruce but a scrap dealer friend tells me that scrap prices have fallen back (Chinese demand dropping) .. so approx £50 for cars and falling.. Wer'e all doomed!! doomed I say!

                  I had no idea there was a market for scrap Chinese people........

                  And I think you would know if I was selling my car..... the local TV news would be reporting queues around the block of interested parties....

                            Hmmm....Russ..........these interested parties?..are they the same that wear these jimpsuits you speak of?.....:shock:

                            PSBon jourGraham....ssssnakey is still alive and has now got his vision (nightmare) in perspective.. Wooden mock up of blower mounts made (mk1 version anyway) Its going to be made in 4mm steel plate in 2 parts.
