    Fuelflow pump?

    Hi,

I went to take the fuel pump out of my car today to overhaul it with the kit I bought from Burlen's.

It isn't a Lucas pump! The label says Fuelflow with a web address (www.fuelflow.co.nz) but I can't see a Stag application listed there.

Has anyone seen these pumps, are they any good, how can I get service parts?

Does it look like this one on that site "ECCO 15LM12" If so it's the replacement electronic one that LD sells

Why did I write Lucas when I meant SU?

Thanks Ian, it does look like the LD electronic one, they say it's good for 20 years or 100,000 miles, so maybe I don't need to worry about spare parts.

I've just fitted one of the LD pumps, the kit comes complete with a mounting plate and screws which allows it to be fitted to the existing SU pump mounting bracket and the only extra parts I needed to buy was 4' of 8mm ID fuel pipe and some new jubilee clips.
Since fitting the new pump the benefits I've noticed are easier starting and better performance, especially at speed on the motorway.
I love deadlines - I like the whooshing sound they make as they pass by!

Does yours stop ticking once pressure is achieved Some do and some don't

Mine does (Stop) but I know of 2 other cars fitted with them and although they run fine they tick continuously

          Ian.

I have a Jag pump fitted and that stops when up to pressure.

Rimmer, JP and LD sell the Fuelflow electronic pump as a direct replacement for the original SU fuel pump fitted to the Stag. I have just fitted one of these to my car and it really is a direct fit. The adapter plate and screws supplied with the pump allowed it to be fitted directly to the existing mounting plate. The pipe connections on the pump are in exactly the same position as on the SU and the original banjos screw directly into the pump body without any need to alter the piping. The only thing I had to do was to fit suitable terminals onto the wire from the pump to connect to the car's wiring.
When I first switched on the ignition I thought there must have been a leak as the pump was ticking continuously. There wasn't. Mine must be one of those that do so continuously.

                Martin,

Check that someone hasn't fitted a bypass. Some owners tee a pipe into the pump outlet line and connect it to the blanked off fuel return on the top of the tank. They fit a small restricter (0.6mm MIG tip is popular) into this line to allow excess pressure to bleed off so that the carb needles aren't overcome leading to fuel leaks from the carb overflow. The downside of this is that the fuel pump doesn't cut off and is pumping continuously. Coincidentally I have removed this modification this afternoon as I was fed up with hearing the fuel pump ticking away in the boot.....

Just to add (more confusion ) to this, my LD one works fine but sometimes stops ticking, anad sometimes doesn't

                      Cheers

Mine does that too - I think it's confused.

Not mine Steve, it's from a Jaguar XJS and has never missed a tick since I liberated it from a scrapyard about 12 years ago....
