Still trying to find my vibration someone suggested I could have a problem with the starter ring gear on the flywheel, in that it could have moved slightly/no longer flat on the flywheel thus causing an imbalance - anyone had such a problem..?
To me it sounds unlikely but not impossible. If the ring gear moved on the flywheel I couldn't see it throwing the balance off because there will still be the same weight of ring gear spread around the circumference of the flywheel. (could be proved wrong here??)
Also ive never heard of one coming loose, but again not impossible.
I guess the best thing to do to rule it out would be to remove the starter and watch the gear as somebody turns the engine with a ratchet spanner on the crank bolt.

Cheers guys - must admit I concur with you James but I will take the starter off and check it - certainly no teeth broken as it never misses as start and I've never been to Glasgow with it either (although I'm getting tempted )
I lost a couple of teeth in Glasgow one night made me vibrate a fair bit
I had a puncture once in Glasgow. Was changing the wheel for the spare when some young scrote started taking the stereo out. Stopped what I was doing and said what do you think you're upto?
He replied "if you're having the wheels, I'm having the radio!"
