    Electric Cooling Fans

    Hi,

Can any one relate any positive experiences fitting an electric cooling fan, is it an easy job, and is there any recommendation as to which one is best? Any other tips on non standard cooling aids would be appreciated.

I fitted a Kenlowe easily enough, I have also removed it twice and refitted it twice (nothing to do with the fan) bit fiddly with the plastic fittings through the rad but no real problems and with no damage to the rad.

Since re fitting the VC, the fan hasn't come on once but at least I know it's there if needed.

    Wiring quite easy too.

    Jeff.

I use a 2 speed kenlowe without an engine fan, works well, rarely use the boost speed, except if stopped for long periods in very high temperatures, easy to fit, but best to use relays in the wiring. if you ring Kenlowe they are very helpful. good luck, derek

I had the Kenlowe without the VC and the temp gauge went up and down too much either side of normal as the fan cut in and out, with the VC back on the temp is stable.

I fitted a Kenlowe using the two right angled bar fixings (not the through-rad items). Straightforward enough. The electronic controller failed after 6 months but Kenlowe replaced it FOC.

Mine is in addition to the original fan, which I personally believe works best.

Hi, My 2spd 16" Kenlowe is mounted in front between the oil cooler and the radiator. The Kenlowe sensor is into the L/hand tank approx. 50mm down from the top in a custom fitting I made. The VC fan is removed. This was all done with the grille and radiator out. Electrically it is feed with a fused relay via the Kenlowe adjustable controller.

Two speed kenlowe on both my Stags.
As Jeff says, temperature will be unstable if you remove the engine driven fan, the standard bodywork of the Stag does not provide enough ram air effect to keep the engine cool by itself.
Both my stags are fitted with TR6 front spoilers, two speed kenlowes and no engine driven fan. Temperature stays rock steady on both unless stuck in traffic, but the second speed only ever comes on in very hot conditions.

Avoid cheap ebay fans like the plague, been there done that and wasted hours fitting a £30 fan that was utterly useless.

An added note. My Stag also has a TR6 spoiler.
