Received my coverdale samples this morning they look like nice quality wool so this is the route I will take.

I used to make replacement carpet sets for the Triumph 2000 back in the 1980's. There were enough original carpets around in those days to know what they looked like. AFAIR the tunnel and the rear floor were slightly moulded to shape, all the floor carpet was bonded to the underfelt, and the MkI floor mats had bound edges. The closest match in terms of quality was a 100% wool that I used to buy from Woolies.
I would imagine the Stag was at least as well specified, it was after all the top of the range! It will be almost impossible these days to buy a carpet set and have it fitting easily - most of the parts are easy, they are just flat pieces glued to the metal, but the gear tunnel will always take some skill to fit. Remember, though, that carpet fitting used to be a highly skilled job (even in houses in the days before Allied and broadloom) so don't feel bad about yours fighting back!Richard
