Hi been looking at the rimmers short engine rebuild kits, seeing as they have a sale on,how much is it to have a crankshaft reground/hardened,as there is a big difference between there two kits,or am i missing some thing
When I got mine done the hardening was I think £150 and grinding is charged per journal if I remember correctly came to around or just over £200 ground, hardened and polished up. There is quite a cleaning process required after hardening as everything is covered in a black scale including down the oil holes, that obviously would be better removed.

When I used to have my cranks hardened 30 years ago it used to cost about £80 then.
That was over near you (when I lived in Pinner) at an American car specialist called Bob Harmon Engineering (I think)
There is also the problem that the crank twists during the process and need to be straightened again afterwards..
