Repainting stag with colour change !!!

Since I'm rebuilding the engine and doing some bodywork on the stagI was just wondering what colour to paint it. Since the engine is coming out I am going to change the colour from sienna brown, no surprise there then !!

I do fancy a change from the norm which may disgust many but wondered if any had painted their cars in non original colours and also if they had any pics that they could post.

I do like clarals black car, however I guess the bodywork would have to be spot on for a paint job like that.

There were a lot of suggestions in RUBCE's thread

"if your car was having a bare metal respray, what coloiur would you choose?"

where a lot of us posted pictures of our Stags mainly original colours though

Yep, and I have still to make my mind upHowever, I will have to make the final choice within the next few weeks as I am soon to order the paint for the body underside.

Over the coming winter, my Stag's going to go from its original Saffron (+ rust, primer, jenolite, etc) to "302 Yellow".. which is a Ford colour just a shade lighter than Inca. Main reason being.. the Ford colour is $49 a gallon, and if I have Inca made up, it's over $250 a gallon.. that, and if I get the Ford stuff from PPP I get to paint it myself.

            Good fun.

That does look good.. hehe.. maybe I'll change my mind.

I see 'black' on the Triumph colour charts.. but I've never seen a black factory Stag.. I suppose there must be some somewhere!

Mine was yellow originally, but it must have been painted black within 3 years of leaving the factory as the first MOT form states the colour as black. All service history after 1979 also states the colour as black. I dont know who had the colour changed, i have all the service history except anything that details the colour change. EJ Wards know the car well, but they said it was always black when they started looking after it ages ago.

There are a couple of areas where you can still see the yellow, behind the dash and in some of the deeper hard to get areas in the boot. Everywhere else has been painted.

I like my cars in black, and the Stag really suits that colour (mine has a light gold metallic flake in it that you can see close up). The only other stag that tempted me was a metallic silver one or a metallic racing green one, both none standard colours.

I would have been thrown on the street if i had come home with a white or brown one - sorry to owners of those colours!

I wouldn't have bought a brown one by choice, but it was on my doorstep and the price was right.

Black certainly seems the way forward
