Newbie confused, Commission number, Body number, rear panel black or body colour
Looks nice, Wolfgang. Mines still black. It's just been in for respraying of stone chips under the back quarters and other bits of touching up around the wheel arches etc and I did consider again changing to body colour, but decided not to, at least for now.
Glad you're getting lots of pleasure. I'm watching the weather forecast looking for the chance of a decent day for a drive - got to make the most of opportunities before they start spreading salt on the roads.
Re your rear panel colour anything on the body fitted at Speeke before transporting to Canley will be according to body number ie electrics, paint trim etc. The commission number was not put on the shell until it was dropped onto the production line at Canley to mate up with the mechanicals engine, axles wheels etc. There for an early trimmed shell could have gone down the final line long after its sister shells depending which shell was required and available at the time usually by colour, same with engine/gearboxes they were not fitted in numeric order but easiest to reach by auto, man, or man o/d. Thus if build sheet wanted white car with black trim that shell was dropped onto the line, then mechanicals to suit build sheet. The commission number was fitted at the start of final build with the sales tag identification (unpainted) and all recorded on build sheet. Dave
Paint whatever you like would be my suggestion.
Mine is painted black at the back. Should it be matt, satin, or gloss? Mines satin because I like it.
Mine should have black painted sills and chrome strip, actually I prefer body colour and no chrome strip, nor sill covers!
Also prefer no pin stripe either!
