    Condensation

    Evening gents,

Have not had a run in stag since September/ October time just run in garage until up to norm temp etc every three four weeks , found a bit of white foamy stuff in breather pipes and a bit on oil filler cap nothing in oil at mo, as we do always think the worst, hoping condensation is the problem, any one had similar.

    Thanks Glyn

Take it for a nice long drive - about 10 miles or more, then give it an Italian Tune-Up. That'll sort it.....

Running the car for a short time can cause more problems than is solves if any.The car needs a good run 10 or more miles and give it some wellie
my wife had a Fiesta used it for work 4 miles each way it neve above 30 was always choked with sludge despite being nearly new

I second this, I bought a Mk3 escort back in the day, previous owner never went above 40 MPH, thought it would be a great engine because of that, I got in it, gave it some wellie up the motorway, all the sludge that had collected in the sump started to circulate, blocked up the oil pump and ceased the engine .. result, a new engine,

Moral of the story .. whenever you buy a new car .. give the engine an engine flush .. just in case, as a one careful lady driver owner cost me 400 quid 2 days after I bought the car under the assumption that a car that has not been thrashed will not give any problems. (the engine was perfect by the way .. it was the conditions that caused the problem)

The irony of this story is it was the time I was a mechanic in the 80's, and the previous owner was the secretary at the garage I worked at, and had the car serviced regularly by me, including regular oil changes .. go figure ....

A cold block will condense internally and it does take time and more particularlly heat to evaporate the moisture.
Most engines will run slightly below the boiling point of water so the time taken is considerable, added to which the molecules of water will be bonded to the oil forming an emulsion - this is mayo
One of the reasons a long run after a lay up will show an initial drop in the oil level is generally due to moisture loss
