Front Carpets

Need some valuable advice again please......

My original mk2 carpet set is in really good condition with the exception of the front footwell sections. So I want to replace these only with something that looks and feels as near as possible to the original spec.

Seen lots of comments re Coverdale and Alderidge which if I was replacing the whole carpet set I'd be happy to take the plunge with - but need an opinion on which is nearest to original.

Hi John,

Aldridge - and I suspect others - will send you a free sample so you can check how they match for yourself.

You may also be able to persuade them to sell you just the two footwell sections and, even if the colours don't match exactly, the fact that both will be the same may look ok. I went with green footwell sections and cream everywhere else for quite a while and quite liked the look of it

Be careful Aldridge carpets do not fit or at least there top of the range at £313 do not.It is hard to see how they can get it so wrong rear mats 2 inches to long and 2 inches 2 inches to wide I have had to alter every piece main tunnel 2 inches to long also because of there bulk they do not sit well on the tunnel only good point was that being to big I was able to alter them.

Ps If 38rover is right and the carpets are too big, but fit just fine in my car, wouldn't it have needed to stretch, not shrink

Fitted Coverdale top spec last winter - lovely but front carpets about 2'' wider than original. Don't mind as the turned up inner edge gives a contour to the footwell which is attractive.
Pondered briefly going red but chose black in the end. Ditto boot carpet - width ok but 2'' too deep. Guess my car shrank with all the rain.

Interesting - although my interior carpets fit just fine (and I've had two different sets) the boot carpet is too big.

Also, I've found quite a few items, especially trim, are too big. I guess the manufacturers err on the side of large - probably not because they're being generous but to stop people complaining they're too small and won't fit at all.
