    BW65 sump gasket

Hi all , decided to tackle my leaking BW 65 sump gasket , should I use any sealant when replacing the cork gasket ? Also is there any strainer mesh or filter that can be cleaned whilst the sump is down ? Best regards Graham

There's a gauze filter inside. I replaced the pan gasket on my 65 which still leaked afterwards, the second and the last time I put it back without a gasket and with a nice even bead of permatex ( scream out in horror) I doesn't leak anymore.

At least you didn't do what an ex-apprentice did when refitting a valve block to the AP box in an Austin Metro - use hylomar - then ask me why the transmission didn't work.....

And yes, despite him having qualified, and no longer my apprentice, I had to rebuild the gearbox again - the service manager assumed that because he had seen me and assisted building a few dozen of these, he could do one on his own...
