It was till this evening 4 weeks since my green machine had been exercised. That V8 burble is just a wonderful noise. Management and dogs came too as we drove across middle beere moor and on through Corfe and up to to the Scott's Arms at Kingston.
Also found a solution to the gap at the top of the A post where the window and soft top meet. Simples.
However still finding it difficult to solve the squeaky passenger door when opened or closed. Tried PTF lubricant without success.

Went service crewing to the McRae Stages rally at Dunkeld yesterday. Dopey driver rolled his Mk2 Escort, he and shotgun both ok but car a mess. Stag is 8 weeks on the road after restoration works & took it past the rally scrutineering sound check, 87dcb''s at idle & 107 at 3500 rpm, after that it just gets loud
Need to put on rear silencer boxes methinks.Your wife is right, size matters. 3.9RV8

Took my Stag on the inaugural Pegasus Charity Classic Car Run around the coastal roads near Weston-super-Mare and up Cheddar Gorge. Lots of fun, about 100 miles, wrong-slotted three times (I blame the course notes!).

Gave the old girl a jolly good polish with Autoglym rapid detailer and drove to the Warren classic car event at Danbury - I've never seen so many truly wonderful cars in one place and on such a beautiful day too.
The mix of old and new was endless and the overall value of cars there must have run into hundreds of millions .
Still of course the best car there for us was our Stag and on leaving having just seen a real 60's Mustang leave several feet of rubber on the road as he accelerated away from the exit I thought "why not" - floored the pedal and off we went in a cloud of smoking rubber and cheers from the bystanders!i earned a lot of points from my son on this - I think he called me a real lad
Definitely in the diary for next year!Mike

I'm not sure that you do accept other people's opinions, why do you keep repeating your well documented dislike for bonnet flutes as you call them, black cars and of course Minilites, you should meet Jeff as he has all three. The advantages given by Mike the Nook on the other thread are facts, not opinions. Had I not had incurable vibrations from my Stag wheels, I would not have changed them.

I still have our originals and they will be re-furbished during the winter but unfortunately the tyres will be the most difficult part to choose to get the best alternative to fit the wheel arch correctly and meet the correct diameter.
I am unsure if I will re-fit the originals (once refurbished and endlessly rebalanced) as the new minilite ones, once I picked the best tyres to "fill" the wheel arches (as the XAS originals probably did but the original tyres are unfortunately now unavailable except at a crazy price and probably past their sell-by date) as the originals. And they (the minilite copies) are to my taste in my opinion, I feel they complement Stanley wonderfully.
But each to his own; by the way do you have the correct aluminium alloy wheel nuts to make the whole ensemble fully original (or some of the stainless ones where they don't fit correctly)?
Cheers
Andy1973 Stag (called Stanley), White, ongoing work in progress.

Went to Barrow Hill yesterday for their grand re-opening gala. Those not in the know, Barrow Hill is the last functioning locomotive roundhouse which has just had a £1.25m lottery refit. On the way, up came 00000 on the speedo, now have a VERY low mileage Stag. 2017-0923 BARROW HILL_0000d.jpg
Select band of cars there, just 2 Stags, a couple of Triumph saloons, a Morgan and a 1936 Daimler2017-0923 BARROW HILL_0002d.jpg
Also there were Flying Scotsman and Tornado
All in all a grand day out

Looks like mine, guess I'm not the only one that likes black and Minilite replicas, shame it hasn't got bonnet louvres.Attached FilesI only do what the voices in my wife’s head tell me to do!
