    Looks great
If you have any more pics of the w.i.p. or can write up that would be great.
Been meaning to do this job for years, even ordered the bits once from A.T. nothing ever arrived

Still have final fitting to do but it’s not looking bad if I say so myself.

rather envious of the tidy organised garage. We moved here in May last year and I can barely work on either the Stag of the Grey Lady. Two of my adult children are using us as free storage and show no sign of taking their junk. Have threatened to take it all to the dump but my wife is on their side.
            Maybe next year!

Chris - do you live on the Gorst Estate on the back road out of Conwy that leads to Sychnant Pass?
Don't have to answer on the open Forum. It was a Gorst property that we had built in Glan Conwy.

I’m hoping it’s something like a duff spark plug. I did the head gaskets 18 months ago and it’s done about 15,000 miles since then without any trouble.....

I'm sure I'm not the only one who'd like to know what the problem is as there' always time to learn, especially someone like myself who is fairly new to Stag ownership.

I had a similar problem last year when I seemed to be running on 6 cylinders after cleaning the plugs with a wire brush. The first two pots on the left bank had a light brown deposit on them-a bit like light cocoa colour. However I've now put a full set of new plugs in and seems ok (fingers crossed). I tried Googling plug deposits and a set of photos showed a large number of different coloured plugs. The light brownish ones said it may be caused by oil leaking through the valve guides but if that's the case why only 2 plugs affected?

Took it for its test drive after welding, drivechain and suspension reconditioniong/replacement. The first time it has been driven since September.
It drove well once the engine had had a blast and no whine from the diff.
Unfortunately it has now developed a leak from the water pump vent so needs that looking up now.
I was supposed to be getting it back this week.

Water pump leaks are quite common after a lay up. It should cure itself soon.

Pulled the plugs to try and track down the 7-cylinder problem. Four were black and sooty, four were normal. Couldn’t remember which carb services which cylinders so I spent five hours setting cam bucket shims, then an hour setting carburetters.
Still firing on seven, tried disconnecting plugs in turn but couldn’t narrow it down to any particular one. The next thing is to swap distributor cap & rotor arm (new 20,000 miles ago but you can’t get quality these days) then new plugs. If that doesn’t work I’ll try swapping out the Lumenition parts one by one.
The other thing I’ll try is a compression test, for that I need SWMBO to turn the key while I hold the gauge in the plug hole. Rather hoping it’s not a valve, it’s only two weekends until Stoneleigh!
