Today I took the Stag to see a bodywork man recommended by one of the car mechanics whose done some work on mine and my wife's cars recently.
A few on here have said that cutting out and putting a new piece in my driver's door is just as good as having a new door skin (which can't get over here),
as it is bubbling again at the bottom for about the 3rd time in recent years.

Guy I saw said he could do that no problem, and at the same time fix/touch up some small parts of the sill beneath the said door as well that require attention.
He's quite busy at the moment but quoted me €360 Euros (c.£320) for the whole job including respaying and blending in etc, if I brought it in the 9th April, so I accepted the quote and will take it in in April (don't know how that quote compares with what it would cost in the U.K.?).

Not used this bodywork/painting garage before, but it is right next door to the mechanics workshop refered to, and he says that's where he passes all
bodywork jobs onto and has always been happy with the results (he only does the mechanicals). The garage is just a few doors away from our nearest LIDL so did a big shop there afterwards before driving home.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that he does a good job on the Stag, and touch wood, the door repair is the only work the Stag needs at the moment, but
I have asked said mechanic to give the car a once over when the bodywork is finished whilst it's there, particularly the underneath as he has proper ramps to do that.

Sounds a good price compared with over here. It costs me more pa just getting bits touched up by a local sympathetic body shop. My guess is that, for the work you're getting done, it would cost me north of £800.

Used my high pressure washer to remove the thick mud from the wheel arches, tyres and sills after using it yesterday to transport a trailer load of logs from my golf club to my Son’s house.......

Just picked mine up from Wards following the fitment of polybushes to the suspension and new CV type driveshafts and hubs, oil and coolant change and a few other odd jobs. Far less clunking from the transmission handling improved. Good service as usual from Mick and John.

Woke up this morning in a hotel near Winchester to unexpected snow. Poor Mabel had four inches all over her!

Cleared the snow and drove home. Slowly.

Mine got some snow on it for possibly the first time in many years - but only a sprinkling on the boot lid as I moved it off the wheel ramps in the garage.

More to the point I finished replacing the engine bay fuel lines with R9 - the old ones appeared to date from 1982! It did seem to take an inordinately long time to start up - just shows how much fuel remains in those lines normally.

Now to cover the old boy and add to that with plenty of decent double-walled cardboard before the bits of new bathroom arrive and need storing!

I polished 2 inches of one wheel and got bored, then thought about more plusgas to the stuck heater valve and made a quick assessment that the inside of the garage was too cold for such ridiculous antics and went back inside.

Mine's been earning its keep again....

As I was driving up the M5 between Exeter and Tiverton, with part of this load on board, I was overtaken by a black Range Rover towing a trailer on which was a nice, red, Stag registration number JLG188K. Anyone know whose it is? DVLA doesn't list it......
