A few on here have said that cutting out and putting a new piece in my driver's door is just as good as having a new door skin (which can't get over here),
as it is bubbling again at the bottom for about the 3rd time in recent years.
Guy I saw said he could do that no problem, and at the same time fix/touch up some small parts of the sill beneath the said door as well that require attention.
He's quite busy at the moment but quoted me €360 Euros (c.£320) for the whole job including respaying and blending in etc, if I brought it in the 9th April, so I accepted the quote and will take it in in April (don't know how that quote compares with what it would cost in the U.K.?).
Not used this bodywork/painting garage before, but it is right next door to the mechanics workshop refered to, and he says that's where he passes all
bodywork jobs onto and has always been happy with the results (he only does the mechanicals). The garage is just a few doors away from our nearest LIDL so did a big shop there afterwards before driving home.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed that he does a good job on the Stag, and touch wood, the door repair is the only work the Stag needs at the moment, but
I have asked said mechanic to give the car a once over when the bodywork is finished whilst it's there, particularly the underneath as he has proper ramps to do that.
