A corsa steering column is electric , with a motor built-in to the column, the motor is really big,you would need to adapt the corsa column to join on to the stag column I'm trying to do this in a Dolomite
Dave
The Stag column is longer than the Corsa item but they are cheap to buy, so I used a tilting column as my base unit, and used another old column and removed the bottom section, machined it to fit the bottom of the tilting column and welded it on, and took the bottom section of the old casing, machined it and fitted it to the tilting columns casing, extending the column by 140mm. The coulumn is bolted to a 10mm plate which is fitted between the bulkhead and the frame of the dashboard just above where the Stag bracket is fitted. All fits in quite nicely, only real difference to be seen is different column shrouding, which is a modified Corsa.
Worth adding that you need a steering rack from an LHD Corsa, if you use a RHD item turning the steering wheel left hand down results in the road wheels turning right. Answers on a postcard...........
PhilB, I'll try and write it up and start a thread with pictures this week.
Hi, I ran an old 2006 Corsa for six years and it was really nice steering - light and positive - a conversion might be an idea for a project one winter. Thanks Phil

I was tiring to join the dolomite column to the corsa,as I still wanted to use the dolomite/stag controls and steering wheel, I had thought about using sleeves to join the two parts together, rather than welding the steering column
Drove it! Yay! For the first time in months. Had a family day out at the Elan Valley in Mid Wales. Did about 180 miles and loved it.
Same! mines been of the road for 4 months whilst I redesigned the spring seat set up on my bmw rear end transplant kit/klusterf##k. Whilst the trailing arms were off I thought I may as well check the cross beam for symetry as it seemed poory adapted to fit the stag mounting points, glad I did as it was way off. So now all rebuilt and using std Stag springs instead off a weird offset wound bodge spring, refirbed wheels, new dual lambda sensors with switchable data to the ecu so I have a back up and 2 x12v sockets in the glove box 1 is perminant live and 1 is switched.
so all ready for the summer and it was oh so good to drive it again.
Titanium, I believe! She wanted BOGOF, but they will only do one at a time! Using the “Joke” at the moment as it’s easier for her to get in and out of. Trying to get her into Stagatha for Drive it Day!
Fitted the choke cable that I made from cycle cables and an original pull lever.
The original inner cables were .95mm whilst the replacements are 1.55mm so substantially better at pushing the cable back and ensuring the full return of the choke levers than the thin ones that they replaced
I also took the opportunity of repositioning the cable to the right hand side where it is easier to operate although it does foul the demister tube so we'll see how that goes. Repossitioned Choke.JPG
Total cost of parts £9.00 a bit of a saving over the £57 from Paddocks or the eye watering £108 for a OE type from Rimmers
Don't know what happened to your first 2 pics, Nigel. Nice 3rd one. Good saving - must be the Beast From the East having invigorated you with Yorkshire air
No only got the last picture nigel, interested in how you fixed the cables at the knob end ,this could provide a valuable resource for the tech panel ..ive got to replace mine soon not up to spending £108 potentialy
regards
steve
