Today I welded (after a fashion) a new battery box lower tray. However when I cut the old one out there was some rot under it so I had to repair that too. Then I test fitted panels. Bonnet and boot are spot on, but is there anything more soul destroying than aligning doors? With the drivers side as high as I can lift it theres vitually no gap between sill and door, the passenger side is better but its too gappy at the b post.

Hi Dave,
Ive got the drivers side one fettled and ready to go , but there are no holes in the screen surround as its been worked on, so I looked on Edds resto thread (neither my shell or snotters actually have gutters)
I did umm and ahh about not fitting them but seeing as its a shell and its going to paint I thought I may as well.

Lovely sunny day, had a wedding to perform, so hood down and took the Stag instead of the modern, first outing since New Years Day run to Brooklands. Lovely drive, only 40 miles but she ran like a dream, just needed a quick battery charge to breathe a bit of life into her.Steve

Yesterday I took our spare diff extension assembly into work to make use of one of the hydraulic presses to remove the bearing. Then it was into the blast booth for a clean up. Followed by crack detection using magnetic ink and an electro magnet. No cracks found but the weld quality leaves a lot to desire with an undercut along one edge. My mate you has access to an industrial size MIG set is going to sort that out for me.

With the weather being so glorious today it was a good opportunity to go for a blast to the seaside. So 200 miles later and my son, our dog and myself had been to Llandudno and back in our GT6. Roof and windows open all day. The only other Triumph we saw was a white Herald on the Great Orme.

I wish to make an official complaint - why must I keep reading about those of you on here who have taken your beloved car out for a nice ride, when I would love to do the same, but having no alternator and no petrol tank all I can do is look admiringly at my car, which seems to be looking back at me like a dog yearning to be taken for a walk, saying please take me out for a ride - I'll make it worth your while!

All I can say is that I'm really looking forward to the big dump of rain the Met Office has promised. There's still significant salt residues on my favorite roads around here. I did venture out ~10-days ago and discovered this (followed by intensive underbody jetting), so yesterday's brilliant sunshine was wasted on me.
BTW Terry, I thought all your glasses were emptied as your sesh last night

Nothing special planned for today (apart from snooker), so doesn't matter that I have a slightly bad head, but I need to be
sober tomorrow to help with the Easter Egg hunt for all the children on the complex - there are 55 Easter Eggs to give away.

Well, today I drove to my garage and fitted the rear mud flaps that I've had for a few months, stainless M3 bolts through the return flanges, oh the joy of drilling 3mm holes in the car!!
While I'd got the rear wheels off, I decided to fit the new heavy duty springs I bought from Chris Witor about 30 years ago. The new shock absorbers will have to wait until the hard top comes off.
Then torque the heads (about 500 miles since the head replacement) and adjust the alternator and steering belts.
Then a drive home in the seasonal downpour, park up and put the rain hat on.Richard
