Thanks for that information Dave. Just what I needed.

Got the car all sorted and back on road, recon diff, new drive shafts, Gaz shocks, polly bushes all round, full recon engine, tubular down pipes, new matrix, revotec electric fan, bit of welding, new wool carpet set, think that's about it, second drive out over the weekend and water leak, seems to be coming from bottom hose suspect it's the Radiator can you believe it's the only bit I didn't replace. Or is it just the Stag letting me know no matter what I do it will find something else for me to fix.

Mine has a new radiator but it still pees out of the new bottom hose, but not every time.

Relined o/s door with HD polythene on friday but having partially refixed door panel realised puddle lamp did not work. So today aying on back under door cleaning contacts with a small file, after about an hour and testing frequently with DVM I finally get 12V and bulb works. So substituded a LED bulb I had bought to use to improve instrument lighting on my "other V8" but was too big - certainly brighter for 10% of watts - but is this relevant in a classic car?

I took the hard top off today. It is Easter, after all.

Dropped the rear suspension and diff off looking for the source of the vibration.

Checked the new ali number plates and one had popped off the sticky pad at one end so a quick 'roll' on my leg to put a slight curv in and jobs a goodun.

I know what you mean but the LEDS should last a long time and draw a lot less current (which is good) and for things like brake lights come on instantly, so that has to be considered a safety feature. So for these reasons, I have decided to fit them. The internal festoons are really not that bright either.

Went to fit my new spin on filter kit today. The oil didn't drip, it squirted out! I tried tightening a little more, THINKing (clue there) that there were now two seals that needed compressing, but no improvement. Tried rotating the outer cover to a different part of the seal and in the process spotted that the oil was actually coming from a pin hole in the side of the casting! Had to refit the old filter with my nice clean Penrite HPR 30 while the kit gets posted back to the local supplier.

Had more luck with the speedometer bouncing around. Cable looked OK, no obvious snags but the head end looked like the corners were rounded over for the first mm or so. I get the impression the cable is barely long to engage in the sockets at both ends at the same time. I didn't think it would stretch so, having had a frustrating day so far, I hit it a few times - with the tip of a welding rod. I was then able file it back to a square and I now have a bounce free speedo again.
As a precaution, in case I had to wait for a new cable, I had downloaded an app for my smart phone which uses the in built GPS module to read out the speed. It claims that it can even be placed on the dash and will project the readings onto the windscreen. Now who else wants a Stag with a 'Heads Up Display'?

Is that the Navmii App ? I used that last year in Aus when we toured the east coast in a hire car from Sydney to Port Douglas, a great tool for anywhere in the world and the head up display really works.

                              Hi Nigel,
No it's called DigiHUD, just one of any number of free Nav apps. Can't really say it is any better than anything else and I haven't found a spot where I can actually read it easily with the top down. We have been very with Google Maps both here and on out frequent trips back home.
